Glenn:
If you could have with lunch with anyone today, who would it be?
Penny: Jim Carey and also the Wayans brothers.

Vera:
Did you always want to play basketball when you where a kid or was there another sport that interested you?
Penny: I played baseball, ping pong, bowling, tennis, football, etc. and I thought that I could play them all well. But I loved to play basketball.

Charles:
What is your favorite meal?
Penny: Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and Ms. Libby’s sweet potato pie!!!

Lynda:
If you could go to a beach today where would you go?
Penny: I would go to Aruba.

Cindy: As a child, who was your hero?
Penny: Magic Johnson with the Lakers was my basketball hero, but my grandma was my over-all hero.

Natasha: When are you getting married?
Penny: Believe it or not as I start to get older and my basketball career has peaked, I’ve started to take on a whole new value system. I am actually thinking more about a serious relationship, children, family vacations and dinners at home. You know all the mushy stuff “married” people do. It is on my mind more than it has been in the past. Thirty-something has that effect on you.

Jose: What was your work ethic in high school? Can you tell me how to get to the NBA?
Penny: When I was in high school, I played basketball everyday after I finished my homework. I worked constantly on my game including defense. Concentrate on rebounds and learn the fundamentals. If you’re a big man, never put the ball down low for all the players to reach, never pass a ball under the opponent’s goal, and never stop moving even if you don’t have the ball. Work hard and watch the pros. Learn from my mistake: because I slacked off in the beginning of college and did not do my homework, I could not play my first year, so DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

April: How did you decide that you wanted to make basketball your career?
Penny: Growing up, I loved the game more than anything, but then I realized in Jr. High School that basketball could also be a lucrative business. It was at this time, playing basketball became a career goal.

Deon: Do you have a pre-game routine or ritual?
Penny: I usually try to sleep about 3 hours prior to playing. I eat a light high protein lunch before my nap then I get to the gym early before anyone gets there. I also imagine myself hitting the game winning shot.

Erika: I know that you have a successful basketball career now, but if you were not blessed with your amazing skills, what would you be doing right now?
Penny: Coaching basketball. I love kids and I love the game, so I expect I would be doing something that includes them both and what better place than a park full of kids with their moms screaming at me for taking their son out of the game too soon.

Kelly M.: What was it like playing with Shaq?
Penny: Shaq is impressive now and was back in Orlando. Shaq has added a lot of moves to his game since we played, but I think 3 Championships speak for his game.

B.J.: How many TV’s do you have? What is your favorite movie?
Penny: I have 20 TV’s in my Phoenix home and only 7 in my Memphis home. I love all movies and I wouldn’t say I have a favorite. I hope to act one day.

Hironori K: How do you usually spend your off-season?
Penny: I play lots of golf. When I travel to L.A., I play pick up games with other NBA players.

David G: What should I do to become a great pro like you?
Penny: Stay focused. Never neglect your family and make sure you don’t lose sight of the work ethic that got you were you are.
